Bringing Heart to Healthcare Through Strategic Storytelling
In San Antonio’s competitive healthcare landscape, Gonzaba Medical Group needed to stand out not just for its medical excellence but for the distinct warmth and culture that had defined it since its founding in the 1960s. With more than 50 physicians and providers across multiple locations, Gonzaba had grown into a respected name in the community, but they lacked a cohesive visual system and communications strategy to reflect their story and patient-first mission.
Challenge
Differentiate Gonzaba Medical Group in a saturated market while capturing the brand’s legacy of compassion, cultural connection, and medical excellence.



Approach
Working closely with the internal marketing team, I led the development of a comprehensive visual and communications strategy designed to clarify and amplify the Gonzaba brand. We began with a strategic audit of existing materials and identified key disconnects in tone, consistency, and audience segmentation.
We developed a unified visual language that blended professionalism with cultural warmth, respecting the organization's deep roots in San Antonio’s Hispanic community while appealing to a wider demographic. The strategy included updated design systems across all patient touchpoints, from in-practice signage and digital communications to printed materials and social content.



Execution
We built a scalable system to ensure visual and verbal consistency across Gonzaba’s growing network. Core components included:
- Brand identity refinement with a more modern, patient-centered tone
- Custom templates and toolkits for quick-turn patient communications
- Print and digital collateral, including brochures, wellness guides, and educational pieces
- Social media content frameworks tailored to patients' needs and seasonal campaigns
- Website consultation and creative direction to improve user experience and access to care
- On-site signage and wayfinding systems to enhance patient comfort and reinforce brand trust
Outcome
The reimagined visual communications system helped Gonzaba Medical Group present a clearer, more consistent identity to patients and the broader public. It strengthened their brand equity, built trust among new and existing patients, and laid the groundwork for future growth, anchored in a strategy that honors both legacy and innovation.
