ClearTalk Wireless teamed with us to promote its brand across South Texas and Mexico. When they asked us to incorporate their mascot, we knew we could make their small wireless company unforgettable.

Deliverables: multicultural advertising, creative direction, design, and messaging

ClearTalk Wireless provided low-cost cellular solutions without contract commitments, allowing people in South Texas and Mexico to enjoy top-of-the-line phones with reliable service. Their biggest challenge was competing with industry giants like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. ClearTalk knew they needed to stay top-of-mind when consumers were choosing their cellular service, or risk losing out to the big four.

That's where we came in. Embracing the "small but mighty" mindset, we promoted ClearTalk with graphics and messaging that could easily compete with the bigger companies in our region. There was an additional challenge: the owner insisted on using their mascot in all advertising. No debates, no excuses. And that's exactly what we did—turning the account into something unforgettable.

As we saw more success happening with ClearTalk, we continued to push our humor. We produced a Braveheart parody to promote the company's "no contracts, no data caps" offers.  We continued to see value in producing parodies and found people liked to share the spots whenever they launched. We pushed them a little further.

For a while, we had a blast keeping people talking by parodying popular films and cultural phenomena with ClearTalk's TV spots. In the campaign mentioned above, we emphasized the value of being free from contracts and data caps by drawing a humorous comparison to the struggles of William Wallace.

Given my background, it was inevitable that professional wrestling would find its way into a ClearTalk spot. We secured former Impact Wrestling star Shawn Hernandez to play our protagonist, battling Damon and Panda in a thrilling handicap match. The extended online version of the spot is shown above. What happens when you find an open warehouse, build a wrestling ring, and fill the stands with an enthusiastic agency creative team? Instant wrestling match.

When the marketing team and ownership of ClearTalk asked if we could significantly increase website traffic, we knew it would be tough. Challenge accepted. After several rounds of brainstorming and discarding the seriously outrageous ideas, we settled on the mildly outrageous, yet feasible ones. We pitched and got approval on a concept we were almost willing to guarantee would drive traffic to their site.

Here's the catch: we'd tease something in a ClearTalk spot that would spark viewers' curiosity, telling them the only way to see it was to go online. Simple, right? Now the big question was, what exactly did we have to offer them?

When visitors went to ClearTalk's website, they discovered why Panda was so upset. Inspired by the popularity of Girls Gone Wild videos, we created our own quirky version, "Bear Essentials." This unexpected twist added a fun and memorable element to the campaign that performed exactly as expected.

The team had an absolute blast creating something so original and offbeat. We even wrote and produced the rap soundtrack that accompanied the video. The process was full of laughter and creativity as we brainstormed wild ideas and brought them to life. It was a refreshing departure from the norm, allowing us to showcase our playful side and engage viewers in a way they didn't see coming.

ClearTalk's monthly promotion flyers were also treated to some fun. We created themed flyers to promote different premiums in English and Spanish for use by all of ClearTalk's vendors. Bright colors, holidays, and of course Damon and Panda were all featured prominently on these two-sided flyers.

Our flyers were a hit, so much so that they were adapted into store graphics, point-of-sale pop-up figures, and large window clings. The team's creativity with these flyers shined through in every design, blending humor with eye-catching visuals that captured the essence of ClearTalk’s playful brand. Each flyer was meticulously crafted to not only promote the product but also to entertain and engage the audience, making them a memorable part of the shopping experience.

Seeing our designs repurposed across various formats was incredibly rewarding, and it highlighted the success of our innovative approach. However, I do have one regret with this account: I never got to wear the panda suit. Bummer.

After a long day of shooting, you just have to unwind and have some fun. That's exactly what my team does. We always find a way to laugh and enjoy the moment, no matter how busy or intense the day has been. We come together to celebrate the hard work, together. This is how we roll.
